Other than my excitement of helping pick a new faction I wanted to share images of many of the terrain bolt-ons. A large part of this kickstarter campaign is the addition of terrain specific to Dystopian Wars. Of all of the images shown so far these look awesome and will a ton of character to any battlefield they are added to.

| New fortified harbor set with a Prussian Empire monitor for scale purposes. There are supposed to be some additional buildings which have not been completely rendered as of yet which will be part of this set as well. This is another set I really want to pick up! |

| Felshaw class light carrier - Cool looking little model. My brother-in-law is expecting to pick up a few models. |

| Russian Coalition Mezan gun corvette - I very much like the triple barreled guns on the front of this ship. These will be a lot of fun to paint. |
As much as I love the models for Dystopian Wars, the Kickstarter has just come at a time where Spartan has failed to deliver on plenty of their promises on the blog, at a time when plenty of their active forum employees have left (or been kicked, we dont know), and I just can't motivate myself to get involved as i can't get people in my local area to play, and I can't really justify money on models that sit on a shelf, especially when those models dont arrive till next year.
ReplyDeleteOn the positive side the Kickstarter looks to have a pretty short delivery day, and how successfully they do this will either destroy the little time I have left for Spartan as a company or restore some semblance of faith in them.
Apologies for the negative comment, but Spartan despite the potential in their products seems determined to do one shot blasts at things then not come back to them for a while.. bah... wrote more than I wanted to.
TLDR;
The kickstarter is going to make or break Spartan and for that I think it is a mistake, they could have laid out a clear release schedule for the year, stuck to it, and started regaining their existing player base's confidence.
I can't disagree that Spartan has had some major communication and transparency issues. I can't help but love their models and the game worlds of Planetfall and Dystopian Wars. Other game systems just haven't managed to grasp my attention like Spartan's.
